Woodland Trails

Throughout all of the natural area and in nearly every section of Powhatan Secondary there are
over 5 miles of trails. Some are paved or sidewalks, some are gravel,
but most are natural. Much of the woods around the paths are legally protected
as buffers to our wetlands so please respect them.

As you walk over our trails, please remember to practice good outdoor etiquette and be considerate of others by Leaving No Trace:

  • Stay on the path
  • Pack it in / Pack it out
  • Cleanup after your pet

Thanks Scouts!

Throughout the years Powhatan Secondary has been the beneficiary of local scouts doing
projects to help our community. Thanks go out to Tim Felbinger and the Boy Scout Troop 103,
chartered by Williamsburg United Methodist Church for their work on the Powhatan Woods Trail. Tim
and the scouts built a 24 foot long and 8 foot wide wood bridge to span a particularly boggy area
in this trail and relocated the trail slightly in two spots to avoid similar wet spots.
